Critique: Part One
Composition: I wanted to use lighting that made they images sharp and showed emphasis on different parts of the model. I also want to work outside the frame as well as inside the frame.

Concept: My images are expressing the true charter of the model. I wanted to show the first two and the last one as an action shot, and have them depict a gender role in the other two. That is why I have my female model laying on the sofa, with a look in her I and my male model reading a GQ magazine.
Method: I did a lot of brain storming for these images. I had to think of a way to use the lighting in a unique way. I also went with where they live. I thought they would feel more conformable and have other people around them to brighten up their personalities. In the first two photo's I used a flash so they would stand out but in my other three I used the lighting that the room provided or that I set up.
Motivations: My intention was to show personality though they eye of my camera.
Context: I did not relate my work to any photographers. I wanted to take my own steps and see how well I could do on my own. My work provides a social outlook on life and most college views can relate to what is happening. For my final four prints I ended up choosing 1,2 and 4. I looked though my photos again and choose one with greater personality.
Critique: Part Two
Interpretation: The class really liked the fourth image and the lighting that I created. They also like one and two because it shows the carefree attitudes college students tend to have.
Evaluation: The class thought I could bring out my model in #4 more. They also thought I should re shoot the first one and close the gap. I would love to, but I do not think I can recapture those faces again.

Extension: I would love to use these photos and extend on them with a gender base subject.
I like the forth one with the lighting and the composition of the piece
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the first one, showing personalities and the interaction with each other. I would reshoot in order to get a better composition - no cutting off of limbs or dead space in the center.
ReplyDelete4 is a great photo! looks like something i'd see in a magazine. the lower contrast works very well with the diffuse lighting
ReplyDeletemy favorite is image #4, the light angle is interesting, and it looks natural
ReplyDeleteI really like the shot of the girl on the couch. The lighting/pose/expression work very well together.
ReplyDeleteI like the 2nd and 4th ones the best.
ReplyDeleteI like #2 and #4. Both look so candid and natural.
ReplyDeleteI like the first 2 photos because both subjects look very happy and carefree. They don't look staged or "posey" in any way.
ReplyDeleteThe 5th one is definitely senior picture format. The lighting adds a lot when its only coming in from one side. Great picture!
ReplyDeleteThe second and last are really natural feeling. They are happy and just make you feel good.
ReplyDeleteI like the light in the fourth one better than the fifth because I can see the dimensions in her face better, and there is more texture captureed in the surroundings.
ReplyDeleteI think the second photo is an honest portrait of this person. His expression is really sincere. I also like the fourth on a lot. The lighting is really good and the contrast between her clothes and her environment is strong.
ReplyDeleteI really like the fourth one, the lighting is nice as well as the pose.
ReplyDeletethe first and fourth stand out. the first feels real. the light and composition of the fourth seems to work. i wish that there was a bit more light on the figure in the fourth image. that would make it a keeper.
ReplyDelete#4 is definitely my favorite as well. Really gorgeous lighting and positioning, beautiful expression. Seems very intimate and natural.
ReplyDeleteI like #1 and #2. Both seem really candid, and an honest depiction of what these guys are really like.
ReplyDeleteI would suggest reshooting the first one without flash though to get rid of the guy's shadow.
2 and 4 are my favorites. Both have really nice lighting and expressions.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are 1 and 2. The composition in both is interesting and the contrast/lighting is well done.
